Springer School and Center is the only school in the region that is dedicated entirely to the education of children with learning disabilities. Springer is committed to fostering an educational setting that includes and respects the different perspectives of all members of the community. The core values of their program include: student growth/development, staff expertise/development, partnership, communication, and stability. The school is a unique environment where children learn the tools and strategies to address their learning difficulties, and to discover success in school and their adult lives.
Springer students are participating in research studies with the Reading & Literacy Discovery Center that are aimed at testing and treating reading disabilities that are caused by an executive function problem. Dr. Tzipi Horowitz-Kraus and her team in the RLDC are collaborating with teachers and administrators at Springer to pilot interventions aimed at improving reading ability in children with this particular cause for dyslexia.
