The Reading and Literacy Discovery Center currently provides the following services:

  • Clinical evaluations to determine the possible causes of reading difficulties in children 6 years to 8th grade
  • Research studies to test new and potential treatments for reading difficulties
  • Information for parents, teachers, pediatricians, and researchers with resources about reading difficulties and treatment programs
  • Collaborative opportunitites for educators in the Cincinnati community to explore reading evaluation methods and evidence-based treatments
  • Research support for literacy outreach programs and interventions such as Reach Out and Read

Long-range plans for services from the RLDC include:

  • Reaching into schools with research-based reading interventions
  • Developing screening tools for toddlers at risk for reading difficulties as young as age 3.
  • Design new assessments and interventions for reading difficulties based on evidence from our research program
  • Provide new evidence-based, personalized clinical treatment for reading disabilities for children age 3 to 18 years of age
